Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
Just over four years ago I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis after developing numbness and tingling in the left side of my body. These strange symptoms were nothing new to me as about four years prior to this I lost the sight in my left eye for about a month.
However due to the unpredictable nature of MS my symptoms disappeared within two weeks and like all 30 year olds I felt I was invincible, so I hope hoped it wasn't anything serious. It wasn't until my most recent episode that I decided to get a definitive diagnosis.
MS is a difficult disease that effects the brain and central nervous system. Depending on which section of the body it hits, the effects of the disease can be mild or severe. It can make everyday tasks such as tying ones shoes incredibly difficult.
I started riding in the Brissie to the Bay because a couple of my mates wanted to support me in fight against this horrible disease. For the last 3 years myself and about 10 mates have ridden in the 100km ride and over that time we have raised an incredible $40,000 for MS QLD to ensure no one faces MS alone.
This year the actual event could not take place due Government Restrictions, however we are still riding and raising money. This year each of the team member who have signed up have pledged to ride a certain number of kilometres throughout the month of June. I myself have pledged to ride 500 kilometres.
If you would like to donate to my cause please feel free to click on the donate button located on the top right corner of this page. You can donate to my page or you can donate to the Tour de Mumbo team page to check out the other riders in our team.
I am taking part in the 2020 MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride to join the fight against multiple sclerosis. I am raising funds to show my support and your donation will make an impact to change the lives of people living with MS.
Did you know:
- On average, more than 10 Australians are diagnosed with MS every week
- The average age of diagnosis is just 30 years of age
- Three out of four Australians with MS are women
Your support will help fund essential services like physiotherapy, occupational therapy, counselling and symptom management, as well as MS research to look for better treatments and ultimately a cure for the disease.
Please DONATE to support our ride and help ensure no one faces MS alone.
