The MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride would not be possible without the support of a dedicated team of volunteers. By volunteering, you too are helping to support people living with MS. When you volunteer for MS Queensland, we do our best to ensure you have an exciting and rewarding experience!
As a volunteer, you will receive a free volunteer t-shirt and full support from MS staff and key volunteers.
LETTER-BOX DROP VOLUNTEERS:
Required in the three weeks prior to the event, the letter box drop volunteers assist in providing information to the local residents affected by the road closures in place for the MS Brissie to the Bay ride. It’s easy to incorporate this task into a fun afternoon walk over a weekend. We require letters to be delivered to Wynnum, Cleveland, Wellington Point, South Brisbane, South Bank and West End.
PRE EVENT EVENT PREPARATION:
Located in our Milton office during office hours, the tasks are many and varied and include, merchandise sorting, counting and packing, mailings, general event administration etc. Generally volunteers are required in the month leading up to the ride as things get busier and final preparations are being made.
Positioned in various locations along the 10km, 25km, 50km,100km and 130km courses. Duties will include:
- directing and supporting event participants
- providing event information to participants and spectators
- notifying event organisers if any problems arise
DRINK STATION ASSISTANTS:
There are 5 drink stations located along the course. Under the guidance of event organisers drink station assistants will help set-up, run and tear down their allocated drink station. The 4 drink stations are located at;
- Redland Bay
If you are interested in working at one of these stations please specify which one when you apply to volunteer.
Assist with on-site event registrations and answering participant queries at the start/finish line. We will provide you with all relevant event information so you are prepared to answer any questions that come your way.
LEFT LUGGAGE ASSISTANTS:
Offering assistance to participants with drop off and collection of luggage/gear left at home base site while the riders are on-course.
Working alongside MS Queensland staff, this team acts as the front line for MS merchandise sales at the home base site.
Assist in various areas to ensure the event flows smoothly. Duties will include directing participants, providing event information, managing rider dismount area, managing the lines at the portaloos and other duties as needed.
