I'm taking part in the 2026 MS Brissie to the Bay to change the lives of people living with neuro conditions!
It’s that time of year again, on 14th June 2026, I’ll once again be taking part in the 100km MS Brissie to the Bay Bike Ride, an iconic event raising vital funds and awareness for people impacted by MS. This year marks the 36th anniversary of the event, and somehow, my 10th consecutive year of hounding many of you for support in this incredibly important cause.
The good news is that scientists are now suggesting a cure may genuinely be achievable within our lifetime with genuinely exciting breakthroughs. Researchers continue to make progress in understanding the causes of MS, with promising developments in stem-cell therapies, remyelination treatments designed to repair nerve damage, and new drugs aimed at slowing progression, particularly for progressive MS sufferers.
While the progress is encouraging, the reality remains confronting:
More than 33,000 Australians are currently living with MS.
- Over 10 Australians are diagnosed every week.
- Someone is diagnosed with MS every five seconds worldwide.
- The average age of diagnosis is just 30 years old.
That’s why I’m once again asking for your support to help ensure vital funding remains available for the incredible work being carried out by the MS Foundation, supporting sufferers, families, and life-changing research.
Why This Cause Matters to Me:
My brother Stephen was diagnosed in 2008 with Secondary Progressive MS at just 28 years old. Since then, I’ve seen firsthand the immense physical and emotional challenges that MS (and its derivatives) presents, not only for those diagnosed, but also for the families supporting them every day.
