Sponsor me to support Queenslanders living with MS.

As the mercury drops, I've decided to take part in the 2020 MS Brissie to the Bay - 30 for 30 Challenge bike ride to join the fight against multiple sclerosis.

We can all now appreciate what it feels like to be socially isolated and we are looking forward to life hopefully returning to normal sometime in the foreseeable future.

Imagine for a moment, however, knowing that life will never return to normal and that your world may get smaller. Think about a life with Multiple Sclerosis.

MS currently has no cure so I am raising funds to show my support for and your donation will make an impact to change the lives of people living with MS.

Did you know:

  • On average, more than 10 Australians are diagnosed with MS every week
  • The average age of diagnosis is just 30 years of age
  • Three out of four Australians with MS are women

Your support will help fund essential services like physiotherapy, occupational therapy, counselling and symptom management, as well as MS research to look for better treatments and ultimately a cure for the disease.

Please DONATE to support our ride and help ensure no one faces MS alone.

Well done Ian. You are a legend. My young niece acquired MS as a young girl (14). as you can imagine, this has had a massive impact on her life, as if being a teenager isn't hard enough. Thank you for all your efforts and for supporting this great initiative.

My Updates

As the financial year comes to a close and the weather is still cool in Australia, you deserve a warm feeling in your heart, knowing that you have played a significant part in enriching the lives of others who truly benefit from your support

Thank you for journeying with me on this year's ride

This old Clydesdale did the promised 50km ride - on this occasion solo - and I chose a picturesque sea side ride from Sandgate to Newport and return. Lovely on the way on, with a full head wind all the way back!

I have done a couple of other rides since then, also with my MS jersey to spread the message

With your tremendous support (as well as a donation of $5000 from the Clayton Utz Foundation which agreed to match every dollar up to the first $5000), together we raised nearly $16,000 - which is awesome.

Here is proof of life of the ride - thankyou again - I truly appreciate your generous support - as does those who I rode for, including Katherine, Vanessa and other friends, relatives and workmates of yours who endure MS.

PS - if you know anyone who is after a last minute tax donation and is looking for a worthy cause they can still get it by sponsoring me through to the end of this month - just flick them this link: https://www.brissietothebay.com.au/fundraisers/ianbloemendal/brissie-to-the-bay

Kind regards

Ian

29 May 2020 - early morning chilly ride

Went for a 26km ride from the Regatta to Teneriffe before work, working the pedals to stay warm

11 May 2020

Short ride with Philippa for Mothers' Day. A great way to spend some time with your spouse!

19 April 2020 - sore backside river loop

Ouch - now this riding thing is starting to bite.
41.5km around the Brisbane River
I need a nap at the end of this.
Looks like I need to be more regular if I am going to do the MS ride justice

18 April 2020 - Mini loop

Back on the bike - did a mini loop of the river out to the tennis centre, the Uni Green Bridge and back. Legs and lungs learning to work together again

11 April 2020 - baby steps 2 - back on it

A 17km loop this time. Thinking about a longer ride to see how bad my fitness levels really are

4 April 2020 - baby steps

I dusted off the bike for the first time in over 6 months and did a small 15km loop.
